The Holistic Approach Mind/Body/Soul

A holistic pregnancy and childbirth recognizes the impact of the mind, body & spirit, on the experience of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. By looking at physical/mental health, values and beliefs, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and spirituality is coming from a holistic approach on this journey into parenthood. Understanding  these different layers of perception  can help one process what is happening and bring more solutions and awareness when things are unfolding in pregnancy, birth or postpartum.

By considering a holistic approach you can:

  • Have the healthiest pregnancy possible

  • Achieve the best possible overall wellbeing during pregnancy

  • Increase your chances for a natural progression of labor

  • Alleviate the risks posed by pain meds and other medical interventions

  • Have a nourished postpartum recovery

  • Deepen your relationships with your community

  • Understand and accept your journey from addressing fears and concerns

  • Trust your intuition

  • Heal your inner child wounds

  • Clear trauma using energy medicine and understand the benefits in doing so

  • Prioritize your self care and prevent burnout / postpartum depletion

By connecting to your womb during pregnancy and understanding what you invite into your mind, body spirit and emotions can directly affect your child's future and further generations gives you the power to heal, create and change the lives of many including your own.

Today, an average baby is born with 287 chemicals in their body.. More than 90% of cosmetics contain heavy metals and chemicals that can affect hormones, fertility, and early development in children as well as even cause cancer.

Toxic chemicals can also cause organ damage, weakening of the immune system, development of allergies or asthma, reproductive problems, birth defects and cancer. By educating ourselves and seeking out healthier alternatives we can alleviate and help support a stronger start to our children's future and be healthier along the way!

When you feel happy and calm, it allows your baby to develop in a happy, calm environment. However, emotions like stress and anxiety can increase particular hormones in your body, which can affect your baby’s developing body and brain. Therefore protecting your mental & emotional health has to be a priority so your baby can thrive.

From birth, the interactions you have with your baby helps to shape the way he or she will think, feel and behave later in life. These interactions also help to form important emotional bonds between you and your child.

Good emotional health also helps to maintain positive relationships with your older children and other family. They can help support you and your partner through the challenges of adjusting to a new baby.

It is theorized that generational trauma can be induced through in-utero exposure (for example, a fetus being exposed to chemicals involved in maternal stress, such as cortisol, that impact future development) or through epigenetic changes. These are the changes to an individual's DNA as a result of a traumatic experience that can theoretically be passed down through generations. Generational trauma is trauma that isn't just experienced by one person—it extends from one generation to the next. "It can be silent, covert, and undefined, surfacing through nuances and inadvertently taught or implied throughout someone's life from an early age onward.

Life is messy and blessy at the same time and having more tools in your tool kit is the best way to prepare for what may come or to simply deepen your understanding and provide alternative solutions that can help a dear  friend or family member.
